SSI Indoor Diver Course at Deepspot

How to get started?

Scuba diving is beautiful and virtually everyone has encountered it. In most people, interest in diving remains at the level of movies about reefs. However, when we become interested in diving in earnest, then somehow we have to start. Deepspot offers several opportunities to enter this beautiful world of fish and coral reefs. Which one is for us? Which program will give us the most fun, knowledge or skills?

How about Try Scuba?

How about Deepspot Scuba (Basic Scuba) 12 meters?

How about Deepspot Scuba (Indoor Scuba) 18 meters?

Let’s describe these programs in a little more detail.

Try Scuba

Try Scuba – is such a trial dive in a pool up to 5 meters deep. This is not a full course, but simply a one-time, one-hour underwater adventure. Try Scuba is for those who are not sure they will like scuba diving. Not sure if you want to take a full diving course? Select Try Scuba. You will see what a diving cylinder looks like, a breathing machine, put a diving computer on your hand. Go underwater and see if you feel comfortable breathing through an automatic. Then spend a few dozen minutes underwater with an instructor and see if you like it. However, if reef diving movies, Jacques Cousteau’s adventures or Bond’s adventures are memorable, it’s best that we get down to learning to dive properly. On top of that, if we have a deep diving pool available in Poland (not bragging about the deepest diving pool in Europe) then I guess such a situation obliges something. Therefore, it is necessary to decide which diving course we choose to start with: Deepspot Scuba 12 meters or Deepspot Scuba 18 meters.

Deepspot Scuba 12 meters

Deepspot Scuba 12 meters is such a decent introduction to diving. We will learn some theory, practice basic skills with an instructor in the water and then dive to 12 meters. However, like Try Scuba, this is a one-time experience. We won’t learn much and then we won’t be able to dive on our own. Further we will need an instructor and direct supervision.

Deepspot Scuba 18 meters

If we think scuba diving is for us, and we want the reefs to be our second home with a Manta in the garden and a shark in the shed, then the Deepspot Scuba 18 meter course is the best choice. This is a full diving course in which we learn how to use the equipment, swim underwater, and deal with emergency situations. We will learn everything we need to know to dive safely. If with a friend or family member we do such a course then later we can come to Deepspot and dive together without instructor supervision. We can also, via the Internet, arrange dives with other divers in Deepspot. In the future, after doing an additional two dives in the lake or sea, we can get certified as an independent diver(OWD) and go on diving expeditions.

What are the objectives of the Indoor Scuba 18 meter course?

During the course we learn the basics of diving. We are mastering skills that can be performed in a deep pool. This course is more than a one-time intro with an instructor. This is a full-fledged course during which we will first master the skill of breathing underwater from a diving machine. Then we will learn to swim underwater and thus control our buoyancy (a bit like a submarine). The instructor will be close by all the time demonstrating basic skills to us, correcting mistakes and making sure we don’t get hurt while learning. We also learn how to handle basic emergency situations that may occur on future dives when the instructor is no longer beside us.

What does the Indoor Scuba 18 meter course consist of?

All in all, we will have to learn a little theory to start with. The training includes mastering the theoretical basics through electronic materials provided on the diving organization’s server, and before the dives the instructor discusses matters related to equipment, exercises, the course of the Deepspot, and answers questions and addresses our doubts.

During the class, the instructor will test your ability to swim by giving you a swim test (staying afloat) for 10 minutes and swimming any style in any time of 200 meters or 300 meters at ABC.
Since proficient fin swimming with breathing through a tube is an important skill, the instructor conducts fin swimming exercises with us, the ability to submerge (the so-called jackknife), blowing out the snorkel after surfacing and while submerging, equalizing the pressure in the ears (it’s actually very easy).
Then only the diving activities in equipment follow.

We will practice diving in and out of the water, emptying the mask from the water while swimming underwater, and using a backup breathing machine from the instructor or our partner.
In general, the dives and related exercises will be divided between “pool” dives up to 5 meters, dives up to 12 meters and, at the end of the course, the deepest dives up to 18 meters during which we will be able to watch the wreck lying on the bottom up close or look into the “tube” flying to a depth of 45 meters (there we will dive when we learn a little more)

What our Indoor Scuba 18 meter courses entitle us to do

After the Indoor Scuba 18 meter course, we will first be able to come to Deespot and dive with another diver with similar credentials. We can also on diving expeditions to Egypt, for example, dive under the supervision of a diving guide to 12 meters. After completing two training dives with an instructor on a lake or in the sea (so-called open waters), we will be able to dive independently up to 18 meters and participate in further training in Deepspot or open waters.

What’s next after Indoor Scuba 18 meter course

After the course, first of all, keep diving. Maybe buy your dive computer so you know how you dive and have it count your dives when you come to Deespot. Get to know divers, maybe join a diving club. Think about further training in Deepspot and diving expeditions to further or closer areas of Poland and the world.
